There will be no transition course or examination requirement for any currently licensed Illinois real estate broker who will not be "managing" an office or will not be self sponsored as of April 30, 2012 and who want to remain as a broker licensee and not obtain a managing brokers license.

Continuing Education Requirement
Currently licenced Brokers will still need to successfully complete 12 hours of CE (6 core & 6 elective) on or before 4/30/12. The 12 hr Broker Management Course will not be required.
After April 30, 2011 these will be the requirements for an individual to obtain an Illinois Brokers license.
Must be at least 21 years old. (this requirement may be waived if 18 years old and have met certain educational requirements:
Good moral character
High school degree or its equivalent
Course Work:
90 hours of instruction – 15 of which are case studies/situational type in classroom or some interactive delivery method..
Take and pass written exam.
Application with sponsor card and fee.
30 hours of post-license education taken before first renewal.
Illinois attorneys in good standing are exempt from the pre-license education requirements.
Managing Broker License
It is possible for a currently licensed broker to take the managing broker proficiency exam and then after passing to apply for a managing broker license even though they are not managing and keeping that status as long as they complete the appropriate ce courses
